Fenugreek Supplements

Sprouts in a bowl of glass

Fenugreek is a plant believed to have originated from the ancient Middle East. Parts of the fenugreek plant have been used for thousands of years in the foods of various peoples, including Indian curries, Persian dishes, a Turkish paste called Çemen, an Egyptian flatbread called Aish Merahrah, and a sauce called hilbeh that is consumed by Yemenite Jews during Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. Fenugreek seeds contain various beneficial nutrients, including vitamins like thiamin (B1),niacin (B3), and folic acid (B9), protein, calcium, iron, phosphorous, various trace minerals like magnesium, zinc and selenium, and organic compounds that may have anti-carcinogenic properties.

Fenugreek has been used as a means of treatment for many health conditions, including upset stomach, constipation, bronchitis, high cholesterol, baldness, muscle, and even cancer. Certain small studies indicate that fenugreek may help lower blood sugar in diabetics, but the results of such studies ought to be considered preliminary until the corroboration of additional credible research is made known. At Matsun Nutrition, we make no comment on the objective efficacy of fenugreek or its constituents in the diagnosis, treatment, cure, or prevention of any disease, we being legally prohibited from so doing. We believe it our sacrosanct duty to provide accurate health information and leave the consumer to make responsible, informed investments.
