Simple Tips For Weight Loss

Now that we’ve passed the obligatory “resolution” time when most people proclaim they are going to eat healthier and exercise more, let’s get serious about our weight loss goals for this year. Of course we all know by now that eating less and moving more are the biggest keys to long-term, successful weight loss, but there are some ways to maximize your efforts and today I’ll share a few of these things.

EXERCISE – Everyone has his or her opinion on which work out is “best” – but the reality is ANY activity will be better than NO activity. So whatever it takes to get you up and moving is great! Whether that means going for a walk with friends, joining a gym or using work out DVDs at home or online, find what works best for you and do it consistently.

GET A PARTNER – This doesn’t necessarily mean you need someone to work out with each and every time, but you do need someone you report to that will help hold you accountable in your weight loss efforts. This could be a spouse, co-worker, friend or other family member, but find someone you can trust and talk to them honestly about your weight loss goals and plans to reach those goals.

DIET – “Just eat less,” sounds so easy, but the truth of the matter is, most of us don’t even realize how much we actually eat on a given day. In my experience the times I’ve seen the most effective weight loss is when I’ve kept track DAILY of the foods I’m eating. And not just what I’m eating, but when and how much. Figuring out your eating habits is the first step in changing them for the better. When you’re actually going to add up the calories you eat each day and see that number, you may think twice before having a second cookie.

WEIGHT-LOSS SUPPLEMENTS – From protein shakes to energy boosters, natural appetite suppressants to fat burners, there are a wide variety of weight loss supplements available to help you reach your weight loss goals. Do your research and see which supplements would be best for your specific situation.

At the end of the day, weight loss isn’t rocket science, but it also isn’t easy. It takes hard work, dedication and patience. It doesn’t happen over night and keeping the weight off can require a lifestyle change, not just a short-term adjustment. We can all reach our weight loss goals this year if we make a plan and stick to it. Consult your doctor if you have any questions or concerns about how to effectively lose the weight you need to.
