However, there are still people who don't get the daily amount required from sunlight. That is why some people choose to get their vitamin D from foods or supplements. Some foods that have Vitamin D are:

  • Fatty fish, such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel
  • Beef

How Much Do You Need?

According to the National Institutes Of Health, also known as the NIH, state that "The amount of vitamin D you need each day depends on your age." Here are the daily recommended amounts for each age group measured in International Units:

Birth to 12 Months: 400 IU

Children Ages 1-13: 600 IU

Teenagers 14-18: 600 IU

Adults 19-70: 600 IU

Adults 71 and Older: 800 IU

Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women: 600 IU
